Barometer Head by BrittaM Barometer Head by BrittaM
I have a barometer for a head.

Rapid changes in weather never bothered me as a teenager, but hitting my mid-twenties it started to. And the weather this winter has been absolutely bipolar--twenty and snowing one day, fifty and sunny the next. When the weather/atmospheric pressure shifts that rapidly it results in weird sinus pressure, like when you're driving up a mountain and that head pressure that builds up til your ears pop?

It kind of makes me feel like this.

You know, I get the same thing now that I'm an adult. I get more of an all-over headache, and I had a bone bruise on top of my skull that is probably influencing that. But I wonder if it is something about hitting the zero-bone-growth point where your bones have hardened up into their adult setting that causes us to be so sensitive to changing air pressure. Kid's bones are still softish and somewhat flexible, so they don't notice it to the same degree that we do.

That aside, the illustration had me roaring when I opened it up. Brilliant, and completely TRUE.

You know, I never really thought of that being the reason, but it makes sense. My fiance gets the same thing, along with this weird teeth-not-fitting-together-right feeling, when the weather goes crazy (as it has been here for months!) Of course, there goes with that a million other complaints, things that never bothered me when I was younger. Guess it's just part of the aging process, hooray!

It's similar to when you've got bad allergies, and you can poke yourself in the sinuses and hear "poik! poik! squish!"

Lucky! I used to get AWFUL allergies every spring and fall--thankfully they've let up some in the past few years.

I take meds for allergies, but for me, my glands swell up and hurt.
